Child Support

Well, we knew that it was only a matter of time before Traci came after Bill for child support. The time has come. For the last couple of weeks, she's been trying to get him to agree to pay support without going through the courts. At first, she just was asking for support. Bill said no, but that if she needed help with book rental or school clothes or something like that - he'd be happy to help. That wasn't good enough. She wants a weekly payout. So, she approaced the subject again. I asked Bill if she had mentioned a dollar amount and he said that she wasn't saying anything in that regard. The next time that he went to pick-up Bradley, she asked again and this time said that she wanted $50 per week. Bill told her that he'd have to think about it. I told him that he needed to consult with an attorney. Bill called a couple of attorneys yesterday. They both say that if she takes him to court, he's going to have to end up paying. The one attorney said that she would make Traci take him to court. So, when Bill took Bradley home this evening - he told Traci that he wasn't going to pay child support. She told him that she has already consulted an attorney and hoped that they could resolve this like adults. He'll be going to court about support. Bill said last night that even though it will probably cost him more - he'd rather that everything be handled through the court so that there is nothing that can come back on him later.
